This as it turns our was a source of one of my problems. The iSCSI initiator hames for our clusters and left off the CHAP user and IP addresses. We have a dedicated VLAN for the iSCSI traffic so I just used So to make the PS Series SAN allow for hardware VSS on the SAN you need to go to the SANs Group Manager under Group Configuration and add access for your cluster nodes on the VDS/VSS tab. I say this because I looked at registry entries that were recommended on this forum and they were already set. Place for using the VSS on the SAN are done during the installation of the HIT kit. ![]() I suspect but cannot confirm that any system changes on the cluster nodes that need to take Part of the installation of the HIT kit is the Auto-Snapshot Manager (ASM). ![]() To use a PS Series SAN with iSCSI you have to install the HIT kit from Dell. Server 2008 R2 with 2 node failover cluster. In retrospect it was lack on knowledge about VSS, our new SAN and the DPM that I needed to overcome to resolve the backup of virtual guests. This is not really a question but how I fixed my issue.
